Jun Castelblanco-Zheng is a pianist and composer based in Auckland, New Zealand. Jun finds fulfilment in bringing healing and light through music performance and in encouraging creativity and self-expression through musical composition.
Originally from China, Jun started his musical journey at age 8 and, after years of growth and dedication, graduated with a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Auckland.
Career highlights include: First Prize at the West Auckland Performing Arts Competition, Performance Pianist for North Shore Music Theatre’s production of The Musical of Musicals – The Musical!, Best Composition Prize and the Best Pianist Prize in the Llewelyn Jones Award, solo performance at St. Mathews-in-the-City, as well as receiving the Drake Medal for musicological research.
Jun cherishes his time living in Colombia between 2022—2023, where he experienced the rhythms and sounds of an exotic and fascinating culture. He is currently pursuing a Master of Music Degree under Stephen De Pledge and Dr Sarah Watkins.
